Sumatra, Java ... the very names of the Indonesian islands awaken our wanderlust. Between Medan and Jakarta, the capital of this great island chain, XWORLD will cross the equator and approach Mount Kerinci, 3,800 metres high and an active stratovolcano which last erupted in 1938.

Breakfast in the hotel, allocate vehicles, brief instruction, load vehicles and look at today's route, picnic lunch, then the route to the village of the orang utans, Bukit Luwang, takes us through fascinating rainforest. Travel to the location where orang utans are reintroduced to the wild, where we can watch the "forest people" in their natural environment, camp overnight and dinner together

Following a generous breakfast, continue into the mountain region of Sumatra, picnic lunch, travel along the foot of Sibayak, the live volcano, dinner together under the stars, camp overnight

Breakfast together in camp, travel through the mountain region of Indonesia's largest National Park, Gunung-Leuser National Park, picnic lunch, continue to Meulaboh on the west coast of Sumatra, dinner together and overnight in a hotel

After breakfast there will be a day trip to Suak Nie - HANSA-FLEX employees and managers collected donations to help rebuild this village following the tsunami disaster of 2004. The village has now been restored with the aid of these donations. Visiting this village is a particular opportunity to get to know the country and its people close up; dinner together and overnight in Meulaboh

Breakfast in the hotel, the journey continues southwards along breathtaking beaches; after lunch together, we will leave the coast and travel inland to the largest volcanic lake in the world, Lake Toba, onto the island of Samosir where we will spend the night with dinner together and overnight in a hotel

An early start with breakfast in the hotel; we will leave the island again and drive southwards along Lake Toba, picnic lunch, travel through the picturesque landscape of the Barisan range in Sumatra Barat province towards Sipirock, dinner together and overnight in camp

Breakfast in camp, after a look at today’s route, we will make an early start and continue towards the Trans Sumatra Highway, picnic en route, cross the equator at Bonjol, round hairpin bends and past rice terraces; arrive in the port and provincial capital of Padang, eat dinner together and overnight in a hotel in Padang

Breakfast in hotel, a long day’s drive today – we will be on the sixth-largest island in the world, Sumatra, driving past Mount Kerinci volcano (3,800 m) and continuing south, lunch together; we will cross the Barisan range of mountains from east to west and travel into the flat eastern part of the island for the first time (Jambi region); overnight in camp and dinner together under the stars

After breakfasting together in camp, we will start a long day's drive through the regions of Jambi and South Sumatra; the area we will be travelling through is characterized by rivers and swamps and is used primarily for agriculture; picnic lunch, continue on the Trans-Sumatra Highway towards Matapura, overnight in camp with dinner together

Breakfast in camp, we will leave the South Sumatra region and travel to the south-eastern tip of the island, the Lampung region, lunch together, continue to the Sunda Straits which separate the islands of Sumatra and Java, cross the straits by ferry; it is still another 120 km to the destination of this stage, Jakarta, where we will overnight in a hotel and enjoy a final evening together

Transfer to airport and individual departure
